Manifestation Meets Action: How to Create a Vision Board That Actually Works
Welcome back to University of Why, the podcast that helps you ask the big questions—so you can reconnect with your purpose and design a life you love.
Today, we’re talking vision boards—the grounded, soul-aligned kind. Not just pretty pictures, but a simple, sacred system to train your brain, ignite your nervous system, and give your actions clear direction. If you’ve ever wondered how to make a vision board that actually works (and lasts), this episode walks you through my personal ritual and the boards that changed my life.
We talk about:
• The science-meets-spirit of visioning (yes, there’s neuroscience behind it)
• The exact materials and reflection prompts I use
• How to feng shui your board for flow and intention
• Why this is a living contract—at home, at work, and with your family
• My 2016 and 2022 boards—and what came true (hello, TEDx and E-School!)
Before we jump in, remember: your vision board is not a craft project. It’s your compass.

Why I Believe in Vision Boards (And Why They Work)
If you’d told me years ago I’d be gluing photos to a board and calling it a business plan, I would’ve laughed. But here’s what I’ve experienced and why this process changed my life:
• They train your subconscious: repeated exposure makes those images feel familiar, and more importantly, achievable.
• They fire up your nervous system: the right images evoke emotion, and emotion fuels action.
• They create clarity: selecting what goes on the board is an act of decision-making. You commit to these dreams, and hold space (literally) for them. No more wishy-washy vague intentions.
Tools & Setup (Keep It Simple, Keep It Flexible)
I love a cork board with thumbtacks so I can move things as my clarity evolves. Foam board and glue work too—just know glue is permanent, and we’re allowed to grow. Start small if you want. You can always scale up.
The Ritual: Reflect Before You Build
Don’t rush this. Light a candle. Grab a journal and a pen that feels good in your hand. Ask yourself:
• What did I love about this past year? Where did I feel most aligned?
• Where did I feel resistance? What am I ready to release?
• Who am I becoming—and what does their day feel like?
Then choose your focus areas: Some examples are health, family, relationships, career/business, finances, spirituality, travel, lifestyle, and personal growth. Each focus area you commit to gets its own “home” on your board. It’s okay if there’s some overlap!
Gather Images that Feel Like a Whole-Body Yes
Flip through magazines or print images. Use Google, AI, or your own photos. Don’t pick what’s merely “pretty.” Pick what makes your body buzz. If you want a private jet on that board—pin it. No limits. Add anchoring words too (mine: “joy” and “love”).

Construct with Intention (Yes, You Can Feng Shui It)
I learned my energy number (I’m a 1) and used directions to place my categories:
• Southeast = Success/Business
• South = Relationships
• Northeast = Health/Wellness
You don’t have to feng shui, but I find the extra layer of intention creates flow. Place your board where you’ll see it daily—mine hangs in the southeast corner of my office—so it imprints on you.
Remember, this isn’t just a board full of wishes. It is a living contract.
This is a sacred promise to your future self. Revisit it. Move things. Add words. Celebrate what’s manifested. Do this alone, then also with your team or your family. It deepens trust, connection, and shared purpose.
My Boards, Then and Now
2016

I centered my board with images of me, my husband, and my family, then built out culture goals for my practice, health, home, and dreams like TEDx and teaching. That board led to my blog, E-School, articles, and a cascade of “impossible” wins.
2022

Success in the southeast, relationships in the south, health in the northeast—plus travel, home, and daily energy anchors. I didn’t expect it all to land in a year. It didn’t. It landed in divine timing. And it’s still unfolding.
